Roger Glen Parker

Roger Glen Parker, 79, of 315 South Selma Rd., Wendell, passed away peacefully Friday, August 14, 2015. Roger was born in Johnston County on February 20, 1936 to the late Walter Glen Parker and Eva Pope Parker. Roger was a retired machinist with Westinghouse and ABB and BMI. He was a member of Wendell Masonic Lodge #565 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter #360.

Funeral service 2:30 pm, Monday, August 17, 2015 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545 with Pastor Tim Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

Surviving: loving and devoted wife, Delma Whitley Parker; daughter, Teresa Parker Wattenbarger; sons: Roger Allen Parker (Denise), Anthony Lynn “Tony” Parker (Teresa), Timothy Glen Parker (Cindy), Larry Neal Parker (Tammy); 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Virginia Whitley, whom he affectionately called “Granny”; brothers: Jimmy Parker (Martha) of Rocky Mount, Donald Parker (Mary) of Garner; sister, Velma P. Knight of Knightdale.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Scott Parker; granddaughter, Laura Nicole “Nikki” Parker; brother, Ray Parker; sister, Joyce P. Proctor; father-in-law, Talmadge Whitley.

Flowers are accepted or contributions in his memory may be made to East Wake Chapter Relay for Life, East Wake Church of God or Transitions LifeCare.
