Next America 250 presentation to highlight Old Fort's Col. Daniel Adams
The next America 250 presentation will focus on the life and legacy of one notable McDowell County figure.
On Thursday, May 7, in Old Fort, an America 250 speaker event will highlight Col. Daniel W. Adams. Author John R. Lewis will talk about Adams, a citizen of Old Fort. Originally from Louisiana, Adams was an architect, engineer, geologist, forester, inventor, soldier, patriot, innovator and businessman. He was internationally known for his expertise in forest fire prevention and underground excavation, according to a news release from organizers.
The presentation begins at 6 p.m. at the Old Fort Depot. The event is part of the McDowell County America 250 speaker series. It is free and open to the public.
