Community Flag Day Ceremony set for June 12 in Mooresville

Iredell County will host a community Flag Day Ceremony on Friday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at the Government Center South in Mooresville. The event will bring together county leaders, veterans, public safety representatives and local partners to honor the history and symbolism of the American flag.

The ceremony will include welcoming remarks, a presentation of colors by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard, the raising of a Capitol‑flown flag, a reading reflecting on the significance of the flag, and closing recognitions, according to a news release.

County Library Director and Chair of Iredell County America 250 Juli Moore said the ceremony is an important moment of unity for the community.

"Flag Day reminds us that our shared history and values are worth honoring together," Moore said. "We're grateful to the veterans, public safety teams, and community partners who help keep those values alive."

The event is part of Iredell County's ongoing America 250 efforts, recognizing the nation's upcoming semiquincentennial and highlighting local contributions to American history.

Community members are invited to attend and join in this brief but meaningful observance.
