Raleigh tech companies Causam and PowerAnalytics to merge

Two Raleigh technology companies that develop products to manage electric power grids said Tuesday they will combine forces.

Causam Energy will acquire Power Analytics Corp. as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by the privately-held companies.

Causam was formed in 2012 as Causam Ventures and renamed last year. Power Analytics was started in 1983 as EDSA Micro Corp. and renamed in 2011. Power Analytics is based in San Diego and has its East Coast office in Raleigh.

Causam employs three people in Raleigh and nine in all. Power Analytics employs 14 in Raleigh, 15 in San Diego and three elsewhere.

The companies said after the combination they will not change office locations and plan to expand their workforce.
