More than 120,000 companies in North Carolina received Paycheck Protection Program loans in the months since the COVID-19 pandemic devastated the country’s economy.
The program, which was organized by the U.S. Small Business Administration, helped retain more than 1.2 million jobs in North Carolina, according to the data that the government released on Monday.
The data reveal how widespread of an economic impact COVID-19 had on the state, with a wide variety of industries — from private schools and restaurants to real estate developers and health care clinics — taking loans.
The SBA’s data did not name companies that received loans of less than $150,000, meaning many small companies were excluded from the release. But, the release did reveal the names of more than 16,000 businesses in the state that received loans of more than $150,000.
Search through our data to see which companies in North Carolina received PPP loans of more than $150,000.
