Harbor Freight Tools will open new store near downtown Garner selling discount equipment
Harbor Freight Tools, a discount tool and equipment retailer, will open a new store in Garner this spring, according to company representatives.
Construction is under way at 2700 Timber Drive, across from The Home Depot.
“We’ve been looking to open a location in Garner for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” Trey Feiler, senior vice president of real estate and construction at Harbor Freight, said in a statement.
Harbor Freight will announce an official opening date in coming weeks, according to Lisa Hartley, the company’s marketing media planner. Local management anticipates hiring 25 to 30 workers, including sales and logistics supervisors, senior associates and sales associates.
“In addition to finding a great location,” Feiler said, “we were attracted by the availability of great associates in the Garner area, and we look forward to having them join the Harbor Freight team.”
Harbor Freight began in 1977 as a conduit for factory-to-customer sales. After three years in mail order service, the company opened its first storefront in Southern California. The nationwide chain now employs more than 24,000 people across 1,200 locations, including ones in Raleigh, Durham and Cary.
