Projects planned for Cary’s Fenton development will bring a third parking deck and more dining options to the 92-acre mixed-use district.

Building permits were approved last month for the five-level deck and a new location for Chicago-based Doc B’s Restaurant and Bar.

Fenton, which opened in 2022, has apartments and over 30 shops, restaurants and entertainment venues, including AVA Rooftop Bar, Dram & Draught and Paragon Theaters.

The Allison at Fenton, the area’s luxury apartment complex, welcomed its first residents in January.

772 spaces, 5 levels

The parking deck’s 772 spaces will bring the number of parking spaces to over 3,280, well above the 2,513 spaces Fenton is required to have for people who live, work and shop there.

Construction on the $23 million deck will begin in 30 to 45 days, said Paul Zarian, the managing director for Hines, one of the development partners.

“It will be located behind One Fenton Main Street, which is the building where Bailey’s, Athleta (and) Colletta are,” he said. “The intent is to provide more parking availability for Fenton’s guests in a location that is convenient to shops, restaurants and offices.”

The Chicago-based restaurant has locations in Illinois, Texas, and Florida. Fenton will be Doc B’s Restaurant and Bar’s first location in North Carolina.

Doc B’s Restaurant

Doc B’s Restaurant and Bar was created in 2013 by Craig Bernstein and named after his late father, Doc B.

Doc B’s started with locations in Chicago and Tampa, Florida, then expanded to nine locations. The restaurant at Fenton will be its first in North Carolina.

Menu items will include salads, burgers, soups, cocktails and “Wok Out” bowls that come with teriyaki or spicy Thai seasonings.

Doc B’s will open at 25 Fenton Main St. near the restaurant Superica.

Fenton is also getting a spinoff of downtown Raleigh’s Brewery Bhavana. It will be smaller than the Raleigh location but will still spotlight Belgian-inspired beer selections and dim sum, including fried and steamed dumplings. The new spot will open later this year.
