Angry Bank of America customers report outages, zero account balances across the country
Bank of America customers are dealing with a service outage with online and mobile accounts showing $0 balances, and were taking to social media to gripe about it Wednesday.
By the end of the day, the bank said the issue had been resolved and it apologized to customers.
Bank of America released the following statement late Wednesday afternoon: “Some mobile and online banking clients experienced an issue accessing their accounts and balance information earlier today. These technology issues have been fully resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
The Charlotte-based bank was not processing deposits and is showing inaccurate balance information, according to users on Downdetector, a website providing data about outages.
Downdetector indicated that most of the problems for tens of thousands of customers were coming from online and mobile banking services. ATM issues account for just 1%.
Customers took to social media to make complaints about the outages. One user on X asked: “Bank of America wheres all my money? An explanation would be nice.”
Another X user said “Bank of America outage and natural disasters are an example of why you should always have cash on hand for emergency. Also why we should never go 100% digital currency.”
