  • Alo Yoga and Aritzia will open at Southpoint mall between August and September.
  • The stores join Vuori and others in a multi-year merchandising plan at the mall.
  • Aritzia’s Southpoint location marks its first in the Triangle and second in N.C.

Two clothing stores are expected to open in coming months at The Streets at Southpoint.

The stores, Alo Yoga and Aritzia, specialize in athleisure and “everyday luxury.”

The Durham mall announced both of these tenants in December along with three other stores — Vuori, Gorjana and Dick’s House of Sport — as part of the first phase of a multi-year merchandising plan.

“When you look at this first wave of tenants that we’re bringing in, with Alo, Vuori, Aritzia, these are the tenants that every shopping center in the country right now is trying to add, and with that, there’s coat tails on additional tenants that want to follow these type of retailers,” Steve Bolger, the vice president of leasing at mall owner and manager Brookfield Properties, previously told The News & Observer.

Here are the latest updates on The Streets at Southpoint.

Specific opening dates and details about grand opening events have not yet been announced for Alo Yoga and Aritzia. But public relations representatives who work with The Streets at Southpoint told The News & Observer by email roughly when to expect the two stores:

  • Alo Yoga: open by mid-August
  • Aritzia: open between mid-August and early September

The Durham location will be Aritzia’s first Triangle store and North Carolina’s second. Aritzia is a Canadian retailer that sells clothing and accessories for men, women and even dogs. Shoppers can find products from house labels along with popular brands including Levi’s, New Balance and Citizens of Humanity.

Alo Yoga already has a storefront in Raleigh. The North Hills shop moved into the space temporarily occupied by RH, before the new RH Raleigh, The Gallery at North Hills opened in November.

Known for its athletic apparel and streetwear, Alo Yoga has one other store in North Carolina, at Charlotte’s SouthPark shopping center. The Durham location will be the state’s third.

Of the five retailers that the Durham mall announced last year, Vuori is the only one that has opened. The store, one of the brand’s two in North Carolina, sells performance apparel inspired by the coastal California lifestyle.

Two other stores not mentioned in the December announcement, The Lego Store and PacSun, have also opened at the Durham mall.

Besides Aritzia and Alo Yoga, these stores will join The Streets at Southpoint:

  • The jewelry brand Gorjana is aiming for a September opening.
  • No date has been announced for Dick’s House of Sport, a sporting goods and apparel retailer complete with an outdoor turf field.

Durham’s JC Penney was recently sold, but it will continue to operate, the department store previously told The N&O.

Uncle Julio’s Mexican closed its Southpoint location in late April, its last restaurant in North Carolina.
