WillowTree, a Virginia-based mobile app developer, plans to expand its Durham operations and add 98 jobs over the next three years.
The company, which has 112 employees, currently has a small temporary office in American Underground, the startup space that has several locations in downtown Durham.
The new jobs will include software developers, mobile designers and project managers. The average annual wage for the jobs will be $83,333. The Durham County average is $66,599.
The company plans to invest $245,000 in the expansion.

Charlottesville-based WillowTree was awarded a $73,500 grant from the One North Carolina Fund if it meets hiring and investment goals. The grant requires a local match.
WillowTree’s clients include Johnson & Johnson, GE, AOL, Time Warner and PepsiCo.
Founded in 2007, WillowTree was ranked No. 1,290 on Inc. Magazine’s 2015 list of the 5,000 fastest-growing companies. The company reported 3-year revenue growth of 323 percent, with $9 million in revenue last year.
WillowTree is the second company this week to announce an expansion in Durham. Frontier Communications plans to create 200 jobs in Durham over the next five years as the telecommunications provider establishes a technical support center to assist its customers nationwide.
