Despite some signs of a cooling market, rents in the Triangle remain high, and this is especially true for one ZIP code.

A new interactive map, powered by data from national real estate firm RentHub, shows the median rent for ZIP code 27278 was $1,865 as of April — a 22.3% jump compared to this time last year, and the highest in the region.

This area is in Hillsborough, a sparsely populated suburb just outside Durham. It includes six neighborhoods.

ZIP code 27514 clocked the second highest change with a median rent of $1,762 — up 20.68% year-over-year. This is part of the town of Chapel Hill and includes the residential neighborhood of Northside.

In all of the ZIP codes displayed, the weighted median rent was $1,900, up by an average of 2.1% between April 2022 and April 2023.
