Cherokee County resident’s coronavirus-related death is the ninth in NC
A Cherokee County resident who was in their late 80s has died from complications associated with COVID-19, the county health department announced Tuesday.
To protect the privacy of the family no further information about this patient will be released, the Cherokee County Health Department said in a press release.
This is the first coronavirus-related death reported in Cherokee County and the ninth reported death in the state. The state’s eighth coronavirus death was reported earlier Tuesday in Forsyth County.
“Our prayers are with the family and loved ones during this time,” the Cherokee County Health Department wrote on Facebook.
“This serves as an unfortunate reminder of the seriousness that surrounds COVID-19 and the potential impacts to those high-risk individuals,” the post said. “We as a community must do our part to help stop the spread of the virus by staying at home and practicing social distancing combined with other protective measures when necessary to go out into the public.”
