Franklin County nursing home reports residents, staff members test positive for COVID-19

A Franklin County nursing home reports that two of its residents and three staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, according to an updated news release Wednesday
Several residents at Louisburg Nursing Center in Louisburg Tuesday were experiencing symptoms, though only one had been confirmed to have the illness caused by the coronavirus, the county said in a release Tuesday.
On Wednesday, four more people tested positive for COVID-19. None have been hospitalized.
The facility will test all of its residents and staff, county health officials said.
More than 3,400 people statewide have been infected with COVID-19, as of Wednesday afternoon. And a number of nursing homes across the state and the country have had cases.
At least 60 people have tested positive for COVID-19 at a nursing facility in Orange County, Gov. Roy Cooper said on Wednesday. Two people have died and seven are hospitalized.
Two dozen residents tested positive for COVID-19 at an assisted living facility in Hendersonville over the weekend. At least 31 people, including 26 residents, at a nursing home in Moore County tested positive.
People 65 and older and those with underlying health conditions are considered to be the most at-risk of a severe illness when contracting COVID-19, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
DHHS reported 17 cases for Franklin County as of Tuesday afternoon.
