Louisburg nursing home accounts for 14 coronavirus deaths in Franklin County
A Franklin County nursing home reported three additional coronavirus-related deaths Friday, bringing the total deaths there — and in the county — to 14.
All of the people who died were residents at Louisburg Nursing Center, the Franklin County Health Department reported. Nine residents remain hospitalized, according to a news release.
Out of the center’s 61 residents, 53 have tested positive for the coronavirus, Franklin County reported. Twelve staff members have also tested positive for the virus.
“The facility is actively working with the Franklin County Health Department, Franklin County EMS and Maria Parham Hospital to do everything possible to mitigate the effects of this outbreak,” a release from the county’s health department said.
A nursing home in Durham is also experiencing a large coronavirus outbreak. There are 111 people who have tested positive at Durham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
In two other outbreaks, 41 people have tested positive at Treyburn Rehabilitation Center and four at Durham Veteran Affairs Healthcare System Community Nursing Home.
Durham also reported a spike of 41 cases and one death over one day. There are now 541 confirmed coronavirus cases in Durham and 10 deaths.
Wake County also reported one additional death and is up to 12 coronavirus-related deaths and 640 confirmed cases.
A Johnston County nursing home is also reeling from a coronavirus outbreak, accounting for nine of the county’s 11 deaths. According to Johnston County, 47 residents and 21 staff members have tested positive for virus at Springbrook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
There are 128 confirmed cases in the county.
Across North Carolina, there have been more than 8,200 cases and 294 deaths, according to data collected by The News & Observer. But the number may be higher because not everyone showing mild symptoms has been tested.
