Employee at Pittsboro Lowe’s tests positive for the coronavirus, other workers on leave

An employee at a Lowe’s Home Improvement in Pittsboro tested positive for COVID-19, the virus caused by the coronavirus, a company spokesperson confirmed Tuesday.

The employee, who last worked on April 19, is currently in quarantine and receiving care, Lowe’s spokesperson Sarah Lively wrote in an email to The News & Observer.

“The store remains open and has been extensively cleaned per CDC guidelines,” she said. “In an abundance of caution, associates who had worked closely with this individual over a period of time were placed on a paid leave.”

Pittsboro is a town of roughly 4,200 people in Chatham County, according to 2018 U.S. Census data. Chatham County has had 274 cases of the coronavirus and six deaths, according to the state’s Department of Health and Human Services.
