Johnston, Vance Counties report coronavirus outbreaks at congregate care facilities
Johnston County and Vance County reported coronavirus outbreaks Friday at a congregate care facilities.
Two people have tested positive for COVID-19 at Cambridge Place in Smithfield, according to Lu Hickey, a Johnston County spokesperson. One was a resident and the other was an employee.
The state defines an outbreak as two or more cases.
In Vance County, 35 people have tested positive and one person has died due to coronavirus at Pelican Health Henderson, according to the county health department.
Cambridge Place is a 13-bed, apartment based, residential living facility. The apartments are dedicated to pregnant and postpartum mothers and their newborns, as well women in recovery, according to the program’s website.
There are at least 22 outbreaks at residential care facilities across the state. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services did not list the Johnston County facility on its site as of early Friday afternoon.
There have been 357 confirmed cases at residential care facilities in the state and 36 deaths.
As of Friday morning, North Carolina reported passed 10,923 coronavirus cases in 98 counties and 399 deaths.
