Here are Triangle nursing homes with coronavirus outbreaks and deaths

Updated May 15, 8:45 p.m.

New data released Tuesday from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services show the number of coronavirus cases and deaths continues to grow in Triangle nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

At least 1,895 cases and 211 deaths have been reported at nursing homes across the state, according to DHHS, which releases nursing home data across the state on Tuesdays and Friday. That’s almost 47% of the state’s 452 deaths, according to NCDHHS data. In almost all cases, the deaths have been among residents.

There have been 379 cases and 39 deaths reported at residential care facilities. The state notes that location data is missing for more than 3,000 laboratory-confirmed cases and 39 deaths.

In the Triangle, new outbreaks have been reported in Wake and Orange counties. An outbreak is considered two or more cases.

Here is a look at the data in the Triangle’s counties.

Wake County

The county has four outbreaks at nursing homes, including a new outbreak at UNC REX Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center of Apex that was reported Monday.

UNC REX Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Apex: 8 cases

Capital Nursing & Rehab Nursing Home, Raleigh: 2 cases. There is no increase in the number of cases since the last report.

Wellington Rehab and Healthcare, Knightdale: 57 cases, 11 deaths. That is an increase of 5 cases and 5 deaths since Friday. A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the number of cases.
