3 new coronavirus outbreaks reported at Raleigh long-term care centers

Three new coronavirus outbreaks were reported at Raleigh long-term care facilities Friday.

Eight people at three different congregate care facilities have tested positive for the virus, according to a press release from Wake County.

Two residents and two staff members have tested positive at Universal Healthcare at 5201 Clarks Fork Drive, according to the county. Two staff members have tested positive at Raleigh Rehabilitation Center at 616 Wade Ave. One resident and one staff member tested positive at Wake Assisted Living at 2800 Kidd Road.

An outbreak is considered two or more people, according to NC DHHS.

Coronavirus cases in North Carolina continue to rise, with the number of cases surpassing 83,790 as of Saturday, according to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. There have been 1,499 deaths, with the number of people currently hospitalized at 1,093, NC DHHS data shows.

In North Carolina, 818 deaths, or 54% of the state’s total, have come from nursing homes and residential care facilities, according to DHHS.

There are more than 7,000 cases in Wake County and 66 coronavirus-related deaths, according to NC DHHS.

Outbreaks have been reported at 18 other congregate care facilities in Wake County, according to the state’s report on congregate-care facilities released Friday. Information on nursing homes and assisted living facilities is released Tuesday and Fridays.

Other Wake County nursing homes with outbreaks are:

Capital Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, with one staff case and one resident case

Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center, with two staff cases

Hillside Nursing Center of Wake Forest, with four staff cases and 24 resident cases

Litchford Falls Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, with 16 staff cases and 20 resident cases

PruittHealth-Raleigh, with three staff cases

Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, with 14 staff cases, 34 resident cases and six resident deaths

The Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner, with six staff cases, 20 resident cases and three resident deaths

The Oaks at Whitaker Glen-Mayview in Raleigh, with two staff cases

Tower Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, with two staff cases

UNC Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center of Apex, with 14 staff cases, 26 resident cases and four resident deaths

UNC Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center of Raleigh, with 10 staff cases and 13 resident cases

Wellington Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Knightdale, with 41 staff cases, 40 resident cases and 14 resident deaths

Windsor Point Continuing Care Retirement Community in Fuquay Varina, with six staff cases, 13 resident cases and five resident deaths.

According to the state, the Wake County residential care facilities with outbreaks are:

Brookdale Wake Forest, with one staff case, 12 resident cases and three resident deaths

Brookridge Assisted Living in Apex, with two staff cases and nine resident cases

Heartfields at Cary, with two resident cases

Sunrise at North Hills in Raleigh, with one staff case and two resident cases

Waltonwood Cary Parkway, with one staff case and one resident case
