Wake, Orange counties expand COVID vaccine boosters. How you can get a dose
Wake and Orange counties are both offering COVID-19 booster shots to all adults this week, after federal agencies approved additional doses last week.
The Durham County Department of Public Health plans to expand booster shots “in the coming days,” a spokesperson said Monday.
The news comes on the heels of authorizations and guidance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Those who received their Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines at least six months ago are now eligible for a booster, while those who received a Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago are eligible, per CDC guidelines.
Residents are eligible to receive any authorized vaccine brand for their booster shots and do not have to receive the same kind they were initially vaccinated with, according to health officials.
Vaccine boosters are free and do not require insurance or ID, but those seeking doses must bring their vaccination card with them.
Here’s how you can get a dose.
