Find the salaries of employees in Triangle cities and towns here
The News & Observer frequently obtains, analyzes and shares public records to inform readers about how governments spend their tax dollars. This is part of our priority to make the workings of public agencies more transparent.
Among the public records we regularly retrieve are public employees’ salaries. For many years, we have published state government employee salaries and university system salaries.
We are expanding that reporting to include Triangle county and municipal salaries.
Here’s a start, a searchable database of some local government salary databases, Raleigh’s included, with more to come.
Some caveats: The data excludes public school employees. And it contains only employees’ base annual salary, not compensation from overtime, bonuses or other types of additional pay.
