Three Raleigh high schools had lockdowns Thursday
Three Raleigh high schools — Enloe, Sanderson and Raleigh Charter — had lockdowns Thursday after threats were received.
Each had dismissed students by 3 p.m.
Sanderson High in North Raleigh was under a “code red” lockdown after the school received a phone threat at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, parents were told in a message from the school.
Police arrived and searched the building “out of an abundance of caution,” the message said. After police completed the search, students were dismissed at 2:53 p.m., nearly 30 minutes later than usual.
After-school activities at Sanderson were taking place as normal.
Code red indicates “an immediate threat to the school,” according to the Wake County Public School System website.
Enloe High School in east Raleigh was under a “code yellow” lockdown during the day, but students were released on time. The school told parents that police had received a call that threatened the school just before noon.
Code yellow indicates “outdoor activities will stop and students will move into the building.”
Enloe canceled all after-school activities Thursday, according to a message on the school’s Facebook page.
“All students should leave school immediately following dismissal,” the message said.
At Raleigh Charter, a threat was called in to the school office. Raleigh police were sent to the school and determined that it was safe.
The school lifted its lockdown and dismissed students at 2:40 p.m.
