Teenage girl found safe after going missing from Raleigh hotel, police say

A teenage girl who was reported missing from a Raleigh hotel has been located, according to police.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for 16-year-old Aaliyah Mekkhi Harris on Sunday afternoon.

The alert said Aaliyah is “believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment,” which is one of the criteria required to activate a Silver Alert.

She had been last seen about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in room 114 at InTown Suites, 3215 Capital Blvd., and was wearing a short-sleeve gray T-shirt and black leggings, according to officials.

Raleigh police tweeted, ‘Aaliyah has been found and is okay,” about 8 p.m. Sunday.
