Day 4 of SPARKcon canceled, foiled once again by Mother Nature
Weather has once again interfered with Raleigh’s SPARKcon festival.
The four-day festival, originally scheduled during Hurricane Florence and rescheduled for this weekend, got three days wrapped up before high winds overnight Saturday forced organizers to pull the plug on Sunday’s festivities.
On schedule for Sunday was music, fashion, yoga, street-painting, visual art, vendors, CircusSPARK and a “pun-off.”
In a news release sent out a little after 5 a.m. Sunday, SPARKcon organizers said that the wind picked up around 1 a.m. and tossed tents, supplies and gear down the street. “For your and our safety, we are calling a truce with Mother Nature and canceling day four of SPARKcon XIII.”
The release also indicated that organizers would be looking for a “wonderfully sheltered location” for next year.
