1 person killed, 1 wounded in Carrboro shooting

One person was killed and a second was wounded in a shooting early Friday in a small neighborhood near McDougle Middle School in Carrboro, police said.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. on a street of mobile homes south of the school’s athletic fields at 810 Old Fayetteville Road, Capt. Chris Atack said in a statement.

Both of the people shot were taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, Atack said, and one died. The second victim had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police did not say if they know what led to the shooting.
