They met on a dating app. They had sex. And then she says he robbed her

A woman told police a man she met on a dating site robbed her at gunpoint, according to court documents.

The woman said she met Alvin Lorenzo Parker, 29, on the free dating app PlentyOfFish, a Durham Police Department search warrant application states. The organization has over 150 million registered users worldwide, the company states.

While several robberies from buy-and-sell apps, such as LetGo, have been reported, police haven’t “had many robberies from cases involving dating apps and websites,” Police Department spokeswoman Kammie Michael said in an an email.

After texting and calling each other, Parker and the woman made plans to “chill and smoke weed,” states the warrant that successfully sought access to Parker’s cell phone and messaging .

Parker arrived at the woman’s motel room at the Red Roof Inn on N.C. 55 around 7 a.m. March 16, the warrant states.

Parker and the woman had sex, the woman told police, and then the woman went into the bathroom. She then sat on the bed and looked at her cell phone.

“When she looked up, Parker was standing in front of her with a gun in her face asking for money,” the warrant states.

The woman asked Parker why he was doing this and he replied, “I do this to everyone” she told police.

Parker repeatedly asked for money, the warrant states, and kept saying he wanted $200.

Parker drove the woman to the Coastal Federal Credit Union on Shannon Road to withdraw money, the warrant states.

Alston placed the gun in his waistband and followed the woman to the ATM, she told police.

While video chatting with a teller, the woman attempted to signal the teller to call for help. Another man noticed the woman’s gestures and called police.

Parker was charged with second-degree kidnapping, possession of a stolen firearm, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana.

As of Friday morning, he remained in the Durham County jail on a $250,000 bail.
