A Zebulon man was charged with attempted murder and other charges after he was enraged by texts someone sent his girlfriend, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Ryan Griggs, 34, was arrested Friday evening and charged with interfering with the 911 system, kidnapping and attempted first-degree murder. He is being held at the Wake County jail. He is being held on no bond.

Investigators indicated Griggs “became infuriated” when his girlfriend received text messages from a friend, a Sheriff’s Office news release states.

Griggs became physically abusive and his girlfriend needed medical attention, the release states. Griggs also said that “he would kill her and any law enforcement officer that came to their residence,” the release states.
