An N.C. State football player has been suspended from participating in athletics after being arrested Friday on a charge of assault on a female.

Damontay Jaqual Rhem, 22, is being held on no bail. Rhem is a redshirt senior from Wendell, according to GoPack.com.

“We’re aware of the charges and await additional details,” said Fred Demarest, an N.C. State athletic department spokesman, in a statement. “Damontay is suspended from athletic participation pending resolution of this matter in accordance with the N.C. State Student-Athlete Code of Conduct.”

Rhem, a running back, is a former walk-on who was put on scholarship in August 2018, The News & Observer reported.
