NC retailers limiting hours, customers as they stay open during coronavirus pandemic
Walmart and Target are limiting people in their stores.
Costco and Sam’s Club limited store visits to two people per membership card, and Home Depot reduced hours.
And Hobby Lobby is closed.
Those are just a few of the evolving changes that groceries, pharmacies and hardware and other supply stores are making during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Below is a roundup of some of the major retailers’ current hours and some of their policies — as of April, 4, — amid the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases.
We also included shopping times for customers who are 60 and older or have health issues that make them more vulnerable to COVID-19.
BJ’s Wholesale Club
BJ’s is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It closes at 7 p.m. on Sundays.
Members over the age of 60 can shop between 8 a.m to 9 a.m.
Carlie C’s IGA
Carlie C’s is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, but Sunday hours vary by store.
CVS Pharmacy
CVS Pharmacy’s hours vary by store. Check the website for your store’s hours.
Compare Foods
Compare Foods is open to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Costco
Starting Friday, Costco allowed no more than two people in the warehouse with each membership card.
Costco will close at 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, according to the company’s website.
The Raleigh and Durham Costco stores open at 10 a.m. on weekdays, 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. on Sundays.
Costco gas stations will open at 7:30 a.m. daily and close at 7 p.m. weekdays and 6:30 p.m. on weekends.
Costco warehouses open from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday for members ages 60 and older and for those with physical impairments.
Food Lion
Food Lion’s store hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. are designated for people over the age of 60 and for those that are at high risk for severe illness.
Harris Teeter
Harris Teeter’s stores are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The store has designated the first two hours on Monday and Thursday for customers 60 and older.
The company has also dedicated ExpressLane online shopping pick up times from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for seniors.
Home Depot
Home Depot has limited its store hours, closing daily at 6 p.m. to give employees more time to restock the shelves and clean the store, according to the company’s website. Stores open at 6 a.m. on all days except for Sundays, when it opens at 8 a.m.
Hobby Lobby
Hobby Lobby closed its stores and furloughed employees Friday.
The stores will remain closed until further notice, states the notice on the company’s website.
Lidl
Lidl stores are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Lowe’s Home Improvement
Lowe’s Home Improvement stores will close at 7 p.m. daily to provide additional time for employees to clean. Lowe’s stores open at 8 a.m. on Sunday and 6 a.m. the rest of the week.
Lowes Foods
Lowes Foods is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The company has set aside the first hour of business on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for customers over 60 and those with compromised immune systems or health issues.
Michaels
The Durham location of the national craft chain Michaels has stopped in-store shopping but is doing curbside pickups from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the store located 5442 New Hope Commons Drive. The Raleigh and Cary locations are closed.
Publix
Publix is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Starting April 6, pharmacy hours will be expanded to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Publix designated Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. for customers age 65 and over. The pharmacy will open at 7 a.m. those days to serve those customers.
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club is encouraging members to limit visits to two people per membership and has limited its hours to 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours remain 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sam’s Club offers early shopping hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for seniors, individuals with disabilities or compromised immune systems. Also, during those times, individuals in need can place their order from their vehicle.
Sprouts Farmers Market
Sprouts Farmers Markets is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Target
Starting on Saturday, Target will monitor customer traffic in stores and limit the number of guests in the store when needed, the company announced recently. Target stores are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Fresh Market
The Fresh Market is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. On weekdays, the first hour of shopping is reserved for seniors and those with compromised immune systems or other health issues.
Walgreens
Most Walgreen stores are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays. The 24-hour stores are drive-thru only from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Seniors-only hour is 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. every Tuesday.
Walmart
On Saturday, Walmart started limiting the number of customers allowed in the store at the same time, the company announced Friday.
Stores will only allow up to five customers for each 1,000 square feet, which is about 20 percent of the store’s capacity.
Walmart is open from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
A shopping hour for customers who are 60 and older or are higher risk due to health issues is held every Tuesday one hour before the store opens.
Whole Foods
Whole Foods is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but customers over 60 are able to shop one hour before the stores open to the general public.
