4 people at NC nursing and rehab center test positive for coronavirus

Four coronavirus cases in Johnston County are associated with a nursing and rehab center in Clayton, according to a release from the county.

That includes three residents and one staff member at the Springbrook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

There have been 32 cases and three deaths due to coronavirus in Johnston County as of Saturday evening, according to the county.

“The safety of all Johnston County residents is our priority,” said Dr. Marilyn Pearson, Johnston County Public Health Director, in a news release. “Upon notification of the initial positive case, facility management was contacted by the Public Health Department and we informed our partners at NC DHHS and the Division of Health Services Regulation.”

Nursing and rehab centers fall under what DHHS calls “congregate living.” There were six nursing homes and four residential care facilities with cases in North Carolina as of Saturday morning.

The state now has more than 2,500 cases and 32 deaths, according to data compiled from county health departments by The News & Observer.
