Raleigh police investigating 17-year-old girl’s death as a homicide

The Raleigh Police Department is investigating the homicide of a 17-year-old girl who was found in a car parked in a Bojangles’ parking lot off Jones Sausage Road on Saturday evening.

Officers were dispatched at 8:18 p.m. to the restaurant in the 3900 block of Jones Sausage Road, near the Interstate 40 interchange, where they found Veronica Lee Baker in a car. Wake County Emergency Medical Services personnel declared Baker dead at the scene.

Police have not released any additional information, including how Baker died.
