The Triangle’s largest sports bar is coming to Cary, with arcade, giant TVs, beer pong
A new Cary sports bar hopes to be the hot spot to watch the big game. Like, the really big game. Like, wall-sized.
Cary’s upcoming Fenton development just landed Sports & Social. At 22,000 square feet, it will open as the Triangle’s largest sports bar, by a country mile.
There are currently eight Sports & Social locations across the country. The one in Fenton will open as one of the few not attached or adjacent to a major sports stadium or casino.
Other locations include The Battery in Atlanta, next to Truist Park, where the Atlanta Braves pay; Ballpark Village, next to the St. Louis Cardinals’ Busch Stadium and Texas Live!, across the street from Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, where the Texas Rangers play.
“Hines and Columbia Development are two of the premier real estate and development companies in the country and we are honored to work with them to bring Sports & Social to Fenton,” said Judy Moore, senior vice president of marketing for Live! Dining & Entertainment in a release. “Sports & Social will bring a completely unique and exciting upscale dining, sports viewing and entertainment experience to the Triangle region. It has become a favorite place to gather around the country, and we could not be more excited to bring that same experience to Fenton.”
The $850 million, 69-acre Fenton development is being built by real estate firm Hines and builder Columbia Development. It’s slated for an early 2022 opening. Among its restaurant lineup are new spots from some of the Triangle’s most acclaimed chefs and popular bars.
Chef Scott Crawford will open Crawford Brothers Steakhouse, Mike Lee will add a new M Sushi location and Raleigh bar Dram & Draught will add a new bar. The development also includes the first restaurant from celebrity chef Ford Fry, as Superica was one of the development’s earliest restaurant announcements.
The Sports & Social at Fenton will be two stories and include a rooftop bar and multiple spots to order drinks. Other areas will include arcade games, beer pong and skee-ball Expect scratch-made bar food and a cocktail list with house creations, plus build-your own Bloody Marys.
A wall of LED screens will include one giant theater-sized screen in the center and game days will include stadium features like a kiss cam and fog machines.
“It’s the ultimate fan clubhouse,” Moore said in a phone interview. “We provide an experience that’s nothing short of what you’ll find in the stadium. If you can’t make it to the game, Sports & Social is the next best thing.”
Moore said it’s unclear when Sporst & Social might open in Fenton and that the bar is currently in the design phase. Construction continues at Fenton as it works towards an opening early next year.
“Whether you’re stopping by on your way to a game at PNC or Carter-Finley, socializing with friends and family after a tournament at WakeMed Soccer Park or Triangle Aquatic Center, or simply craving an energized and hospitable setting to view your favorite televised sporting event, the Sports & Social location at Fenton will deliver an unmatched dining and entertainment experience,” said Paul Zarian, director at Hines, in a release.
