Dunkin’ — the multinational coffee shop and quick-service restaurant formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts — is opening several “next generation” cafes across the Triangle.

It’s newest location will open at 8205 Fayetteville Road in Fuquay-Varina on March 2. For its grand opening, the store will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Normal hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Another Dunkin’ recently opened in Morrisville. New Garner and Cary locations are under development and will open in the near future, according to a company spokesperson.

Each will feature the brand’s new storefront facade, which prioritizes “modern atmosphere and innovative technologies.”

“Dunkin’s next generation stores have been exceedingly well-received, and we are proud to bring this innovative restaurant to the community,” Fuquay-Varina franchisee George Ross said in a press release. “The new modern design and technology updates will grab the attention of Dunkin’ fans old and new and help keep Fuquay-Varina running on Dunkin’ for years to come.”

Iced teas, coffees and nitro-infused cold brews will be served via taps akin to those used in bars. An area dedicated to mobile pickups will expedite orders for busy customers. And enhanced energy efficiency will keep the stores running on 25% less power than standard Dunkin’ restaurants.

The new design is part of Dunkin’s ongoing initiative to rebrand the 72-year-old company. Dunkin’ shortened its name in 2019 to emphasize its coffee and beverage services.

The coffee chain includes 12,600 restaurants in 40 countries worldwide serving coffee, doughnuts, bagels muffins and sandwiches.
