Raleigh house that drew ‘absolutely insane’ crowd sells for well above asking price

The North Raleigh house that drew around-the-block crowds for its comparatively affordable cost, triggering a viral Facebook video, has been sold for $70,000 above the asking price.

Real estate records show the two-story home on Lafferty Court sold for $330,000, well past the advertised $260,000.

In February, Raleigh Realtor Monique Edwards took a client to see the home. In the city’s fast-rising housing market, she was stunned to see cars stretching dozens deep in both directions while a swarm of potential buyers milled on the sidewalks and yard.

“When we say there is a housing crisis, we really mean it,” Edwards, the owner/broker at NC Living Realty, said at the time. “It’s absolutely insane.”

The roughly 1,400-square-foot house quickly became a symbol of Raleigh’s skyrocketing real estate costs, demonstrating the demand for anything priced under $330,000.

Within a day, Edwards’ video had more than 9,500 shares and 4,200 comments.
