The News & Observer and The Herald-Sun are adding a science writer to our staff to enhance our local news coverage, thanks to grant funding from the Duke Health Fund and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.

Teddy Rosenbluth started in the new position Monday.

Rosenbluth is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in psychobiology. While there, she was an assistant news editor for science and health for the Daily Bruin.

For the last two years, she was a health writer for the Concord Monitor in New Hampshire, where she was part of Report for America. She has also written for Los Angeles Magazine.

“Given the quality and range of scientific and medical research in the Triangle, adding a dedicated science reporter is a natural for The News & Observer and Durham Herald-Sun,” said Bill Church, the papers’ executive editor. “We’re grateful to Duke Health and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for making it possible, and we’re thrilled to have found someone with Teddy’s talent and energy to join our team.”
