For nearly 40 years, Goodnights Comedy Club drew the nation’s funniest performers to a corner of Morgan Street, earning a reputation as a must-stop on the nationwide joke circuit.

But this weekend marks Goodnight’s last in its historic Morgan Street building before the club relocates.

Goodnights on Morgan Street finishes off with the semi-final rounds of North Carolina’s funniest and with an appearance from comedienne Luenell.

Goodnights announced plans for a temporary location and its new home in the Village District in May.

But the building leaves a storied history of edgy comedy stretching back to days when nobody knew Jerry Seinfeld.

After this weekend, 861 W. Morgan St. hosts Raleigh’s funniest ghosts.
