Police identify male pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver in Raleigh
Raleigh police identified a pedestrian killed by a hit-and-run on Capital Boulevard Friday night as 59-year-old Derrick Lanier Branch.
About 8:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in the 4700 block of Capital Boulevard near North New Hope Road, and found a person who had been hit by a vehicle and had died of their injuries.
Lanes were closed on Capital Boulevard and traffic diverted at Calvary Drive to Louisburg Road until shortly after midnight.
The police did not say what type of vehicle may have been involved or whether they have any suspects.
They said they were continuing to investigate and asked anyone with information about the incident report it via CrimeStoppers at www.raleighcrimestoppers.org.
