1 dead in fatal crash with dump truck in northeast Raleigh during rush hour
A person died in a crash with a dump truck Thursday afternoon in northeast Raleigh at the start of the rush hour, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed to media outlets.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Louisburg Road near the Forestville Road intersection toward the northeastern corner of Wake County.
The dump truck collided with a small white passenger vehicle off the side of the road, reported ABC 11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner.
The State Highway Patrol confirmed one fatality but did not release the person’s identity or how the accident occurred. No charges have been announced yet.
One of the northbound lanes of Louisburg Road is closed to traffic, and the expected impact to traffic is high, according to the Department of Transportation.
The lane is expected to reopen at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.
