Two people, two dogs killed in Wake crash involving a tractor-trailer. What to know.

A man and woman were killed in a fatal crash with a tractor-trailer on Thursday morning in eastern Wake County.

Two dogs traveling with the pair in an SUV were also killed, according to Ronald Pendergrass, the fire chief at the Hopkins Fire Department in Zebulon.

The crash happened on Zebulon Boulevard or N.C. 96 at the corner of King of Kings Court after 8 a.m., according to Pendergrass.

Sgt. Matthew Morrison of the State Highway Patrol said the SUV crossed the intersection and was hit by the tractor-trailer.

The driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts, he said.

The driver of the 18-wheeler in the collision was treated for minor injuries.

Photos from the scene of the crash show heavy damage to both the tractor-trailer and the vehicle, ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner, reported.
