Sanford teen dies of gunshot wound, 15-year-old charged with murder

A 14-year-old boy has died from a gunshot wound to the head in Sanford, and a second teen has been charged with his murder, police said Saturday.

Sanford police said officers found the juvenile shot on a couch on the front porch of his McIver Street house Friday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives obtained a secure custody order for a 15-year-old suspect and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm by a minor. He was scheduled to appear in juvenile court in Cumberland County Saturday.
