Trash pickups change for New Year’s. Here are schedules in Triangle towns
Local governments in the Triangle will be closed Monday to observe the New Year’s holiday on Jan. 1.
That means your normally scheduled trash and recycling pickup could be changed — most likely, delayed — next week.
Here are the schedules in cities and counties around the Triangle, and when you can expect to have your trash and recycling picked up.
Raleigh New Year’s garbage schedule
Trash and recycling collection will not be impacted by the New Year’s holiday. The Yard Waste Center, though, will be closed Saturday, Dec. 30, through Monday, Jan. 1.
You can use the city’s online, interactive tool at raleighnc.gov to check your collection schedule.

Cary New Year’s garbage schedule
Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Friday, Jan. 5. There will be no collection on Monday, Jan. 1.
The Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed Monday.

Apex New Year’s garbage schedule
Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Saturday, Jan 6. There will be no collection on Monday, Jan. 1.
Yard waste crews will service as many homes as possible during the shortened work week, the town says.
Apex residents can sign up to receive notifications when changes to solid waste collection schedules are made. Visit apexnc.org/1115/Solid-Waste-Collection-Reminders.

City of Durham New Year’s garbage schedule
All curbside collections for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be delayed by one business day beginning Tuesday, Dec. 26 through at least the first full week of January.
The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, the Yard Waste Facility and the Household Hazardous Waste Center will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.

Carrboro New Year’s garbage schedule
There will be no yard waste collected on Monday, Jan. 1, and that day’s yard waste will instead be collected on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Household waste collection will not be impacted, according to Carrboro’s website.

Chapel Hill New Year’s garbage schedule
Residential trash won’t be collected on Monday, Jan. 1, and these customers will be served Wednesday, Jan. 3, instead.
Yard trimming collection will resume the typical collection schedule (on Thursday and Friday). Christmas trees will be collected as long as decorations are removed.
Commercial trash collection scheduled for Monday will be completed by the end of the week.

Garner New Year’s garbage schedule
Monday routes will be delayed by one day and collected Tuesday instead. All other residents should place containers out on their regular day. All routes will be serviced by Friday afternoon, Jan. 5.

Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Saturday, Jan. 6. There will be no collection on Monday, Jan. 1.

Garbage collection will not be impacted by the holiday, but bulky trash will be picked up Tuesday.

Trash collection is not impacted by the New Year’s holiday, according to the town website.

Hillsborough New Year’s garbage schedule
There will be no solid waste collection Monday, Jan. 1. Instead, Monday and Tuesday routes will be combined on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Wake Forest New Year’s garbage schedule
Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Saturday, Jan. 6. There will be no collection on Monday, Jan. 1.
Yard waste will not be collected Monday, and the collection of all routes will be completed between Tuesday and Friday. The town recommends residents leave their normal yard waste and loose leaves in separate piles behind the curb by 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Zebulon New Year’s garbage schedule
Trash and recycling collection will not be impacted by the holiday. Both trash and recycling will be collected on Saturday, Jan. 6 as usual.
