Trash pickups change for Memorial Day holiday. Here are schedules in Triangle towns

Local governments in the Triangle will be closed Monday to observe the Memorial Day holiday on May 27.

That means your normally scheduled trash and recycling pickup could be changed — most likely, delayed — next week.

Here are the schedules in cities and counties around the Triangle, and when you can expect to have your trash and recycling picked up.

Raleigh Memorial Day garbage schedule

Trash and recycling collection will not be impacted by the holiday. The Yard Waste Center, though, will be closed Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27.

You can use the city’s online, interactive tool at raleighnc.gov to check your collection schedule.

Cary Memorial Day garbage schedule

Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Friday, May 31. There will be no collection on Monday, May 27.

The Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed Monday.

If you have questions about Cary town services or operations, dial 311 anywhere in Cary or 919-469-4000 outside town limits.

Apex Memorial Day garbage schedule

Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all routes during the week of May 27, and Friday’s route will be collected Saturday.

Yard Waste collection will run Tuesday through Friday, with crews working to cover as many homes as possible during the shortened work week. Any remaining yard waste will be collected the following week

Apex residents can sign up to receive notifications when changes to solid waste collection schedules are made. Visit apexnc.org/1115/Solid-Waste-Collection-Reminders.

More information about the schedule changes is available on the town calendar at apexnc.org/calendar. The town recommends calling customer service at 919-362-8676 if you are ever in doubt about your correct collection day.

City of Durham Memorial Day garbage schedule

All curbside collections for garbage, recycling and yard waste will be delayed by one business day, and Friday yard waste and bulky request customers will receive their curbside collections on Monday, June 3.

The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center will close on Monday, May 27.

Carrboro Memorial Day garbage schedule

There will be no yard waste collected on Monday, May 27, and that day’s yard waste will instead be collected on Tuesday, May 28.

Household waste collection will not be impacted.

Chapel Hill Memorial Day garbage schedule

Residential trash won’t be collected on Monday, May 27, and these customers will be served Wednesday, May 29 instead.

Curbside recycling also won’t be collected on Monday, May 27, and collection will be delayed by one day this week.

Commercial trash collection scheduled for Monday will be completed by the end of the week.

Yard trimming collection will not be affected.

Garner Memorial Day garbage schedule

Trash and recycling pickup for Monday, May 27 will be delayed by one day and picked up Tuesday, May 28 instead.

Holly Springs Memorial Day garbage schedule

Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Saturday, June 1. There will be no collection on Monday, May 27.

Garbage collection will not be impacted by the holiday.

Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all residents. Collection will not take place on Monday, May 27.

Trash and recycling collection will not be impacted by the holiday on Monday, May 27.

Monday garbage collection will be delayed by one day and picked up Tuesday, May 28 instead.

Wake Forest Memorial Day garbage schedule

Trash, yard waste and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Saturday, June 1. There will be no collection on Monday, May 27.

Bulk waste collection will resume Wednesday, May 29 and may extend into Thursday, May 30.

Zebulon Memorial Day garbage schedule

Trash and recycling collection will not be impacted by the holiday. Both trash and recycling will be collected on Saturday, June 1 as usual.

Wake County Memorial Day garbage schedule

Solid Waste Convenience Centers, Multi-Material/Household Hazardous Waste sites and all other waste facilities are closed Monday, May 27.

Durham County Memorial Day garbage schedule

Curbside recycling will not be impacted by the holiday, and customers will be serviced as normal.

The Durham County General Services Department will close all three of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on Monday, May 27 and reopen Tuesday, May 28.

Orange County Memorial Day garbage schedule

Recycling collection will be delayed by one day for all customers and extend into Saturday, June 1. There will be no collection on Monday, May 27.

C&D Landfill, as well as Waste & Recycling Centers, will be closed Monday, reopening with normal hours on Tuesday.
