Holy cow! A runaway bull is on the loose in the Triangle. Have you seen Roger?
A 400-pound bull leaped from its livestock trailer in a busy Garner shopping center and escaped on hoof, keeping the area on 24-hour beef watch for more than a week.
His name is Roger and he is friendly but skittish.
Maureen Pitts of Clayton posted an escape bulletin on Facebook last week, asking passers-by to watch for the black, 9-month-old Dexter.
Hours of searching led to one spotting on Greenfield Parkway with no success. The runaway bull turned up on security cameras nearby on both Wednesday and Thursday nights last week, and feed placed there to lure Roger back has gone untouched.
“This was not on our 2024 (or lifetime) bingo card!” Pitts posted.
Her husband Douglas Bowley said no sightings have turned up since then, but anyone with information on Roger should text him at (919) 437-5612. An award is being offered for his return.
They remain hopeful and thankful that nobody has been hurt and nothing has been damaged. The working theory is that Roger has joined with other cows in a pasture nearby.
“Farming life is not for the faint of heart!” Pitts posted.
