Cary motel fire sends two to the hospital, displaces dozens of guests

A fire at a Motel 6 in Cary displaced dozens of guests and sent two people to the hospital Monday.

The Cary Fire Department responded to Motel 6 at 1401 Buck Jones Road about 1 p.m. The area is off Walnut Street.

The department said the fire was reported in the motel’s maintenance room. A cause for the fire, which has been extinguished, is being investigated, according to a news release.

Two guests were sent to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Guests in 35 rooms have been displaced, the town said. The number of guests in those rooms is unknown at this time, the town said.

The local Red Cross is assisting guests with relocation. Motel 6 will remain closed until further notice.
