Power mostly restored to central NC households after Chantal. Here’s the latest

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, about 400 households in the Triangle region remain without power after heavy rains from remnants from Tropical Storm Chantal downed trees and flooded parts of the Triangle.

Who is affected?

Power has been restored to many Duke Energy customers since Monday morning’s high of 25,000 customers, according to the utility company’s outage map.

Here is the latest, as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.

  • Alamance: 52
  • Chatham: 25
  • Durham: 274
  • Orange: 27

Piedmont Electric Cooperative, which at one point had 3,000 customers without power, no longer had any outages on its map.

When will power come back on?

Duke Energy estimates power will be restored in Alamance, Chatham and Orange counties by midnight, according to its outage tracker. Durham County could have power restored by Tuesday at 10 p.m.

Piedmont Electric Cooperative customers have varying times they’re expected to have their power back.

Duke Energy customers can call 800-769-3766 to report an outage, while Piedmont Electric customers can call 1-800-222-3107.
