Police in Cary have charged a teenage driver in the Friday afternoon crash that killed a teenage passenger in the car.

Officers said Sunday that the driver, who was not identified due to age, is facing charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.

The charges stem from a crash at Louis Stephens Drive and Morrisville Parkway at roughly 4:30 p.m. Friday. Police said the driver of a green Honda Civic with four teen passengers inside made a left turn onto Louis Stephens and struck a Jeep Cherokee.

All five teens from the Honda were transported to a nearby hospital, where one of them died. Police did not identify the victim due to age. One passenger remains hospitalized.

The Jeep’s driver was not injured.
