Pedestrian struck, killed while exiting GoRaleigh bus. Why no charges were filed.
A pedestrian has died after he was struck by an SUV while exiting a GoRaleigh bus last month, according to police.
Raleigh police said they responded to a reported collision at 4:45 p.m. on June 29 at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Bramer Drive in northeast Raleigh.
Dennis Dillion, 34, was exiting a GoRaleigh bus at the intersection when he walked in front of the bus and into an active travel line on Atlantic Avenue to cross the road. He was struck by a Lincoln SUV, which police said had the right of way to continue northbound past the stopped bus.
Dillion died from his injuries, police said.
Police said the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. No charges have been filed in the case.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, Raleigh police said Tuesday afternoon.
