A 66-year-old Durham woman was killed Wednesday evening in a single-car crash on U.S. 15-501 near Coach K Highway, police said.

Deborah Kay Wright was driving a 2006 Scion TC northbound around 7:30 p.m. when her car swerved off the road to the right and hit a tree head-on, police said.

She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.

Coach K Highway is the new name for the 3-mile section of N.C. 751 between Duke University Road and Kerley Road. It’s also known as Cameron Boulevard near Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium and Duke Forest.

Police ask anyone with possible information about Wednesday’s crash to call investigators at 919-560-4935 ext. 29450.
