Motorcyclist killed in head-on crash in Durham on Sunday night

Robin Lynett Williams, 43, died in a crash on a Durham interstate in the early morning hours of April 30, 2023, according to police.

Police are investigating a crash in Durham on Sunday night that left a motorcyclist fatally injured after 7 p.m.

A man on a motorcycle hit a pickup truck head-on after crossing the center line on Hillsborough Road near the Durham Freeway, according to police.

Monty Mangum, 57, of Durham, struck a 1990 Toyota and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

He was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle, police said in a news release.

The driver of the pickup truck was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Hillsborough Road between Operations Drive and Neal Road was closed for about 3 hours while police investigated.
