Morrisville man found fatally shot in northern Durham’s Braggtown area
Durham police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in northern Durham early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to a gunshot wound at a home on Lions Court near the intersection of Sundial Circle in the Braggtown area.
A man who had been shot was pronounced dead at the scene, the Durham Police Department said in a news release. The department later identified him as 50-year-old Judah Taylor of Morrisville,.
The release did not provide any other information, such as a possible suspect or motive.
Police did say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, which can mean investigators think the suspect and victim knew each other.
This is Durham’s first or second homicide of 2025. Police statistics show there was one killing in the week ending Jan. 4.
Last year there were 39 criminal homicides in the Bull City. according to police statistics. That was down from 49 homicides, a 20% decrease, from 2023.
