Johnston County teen charged with murder in fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Clayton

Sheriff’s deputies have obtained a juvenile petition charging a 16-year-old in Clayton with murder in the fatal shooting of another 16-year-old early Friday morning.

The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. inside a Johnston County home on Breland Drive, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.

Deputies found one teen dead with apparent gunshot wounds and took the other teen, who lives in the home, into custody without incident.

Investigators do not expect to make any additional arrests, the release stated.

The release did not name the teens, and the Sheriff’s Office said Friday afternoon it was not providing any other information.
